Peace and Order Initiatives and Challenges Encountered by Barangay Tres City of Calamba: Basis for Policy Reformulation

Abstract ―​

This study was conducted to identify and evaluate the initiatives implemented by Barangay Tres officials concerning peace and order, and the challenges they encounter in providing these services. This helped in formulating policies that address the specific needs of the community, and ultimately, help improve peace and order within the barangay. This descriptive correlation study investigated the peace and order initiatives of Barangay Tres in Calamba City. The research objectives were to identify the initiatives implemented by the barangay, assess their effectiveness, identify the challenges encountered by the barangay in maintaining peace and order, and recommend policy reforms that can improve their efforts. A total of 313 surveys were collected, 28 Barangay Officials and 287 constituents, using a research-made questionnaire. Findings were analyzed and evaluated using four-point Likert scale and standard deviation. Findings revealed that there was no substantial link between the level of implementation of peace and order initiatives in Barangay Tres, City of Calamba, and the extent of challenges encountered. This indicated that other factors were significantly related to the implementation of peace and order initiatives in Barangay Tres, City of Calamba. Furthermore, the study proposed a policy reformulation to improve the implementation of peace and order initiatives in Barangay Tres, City of Calamba.
